Our annual ESKA Dinner & Dance was held on 18th November 2017 at the Needham House Hotel in Little Wymondley.

It was great to be back at this venue (Previously called the Blakemore) after many years at the Old Palace Lodge hotel in Dunstable.

The evening was full of drinks, awards, food, dancing and most importantly fun!

Over the weekend 29-30th of July 2017 four intrepid members of the Birchwood club completed a 100Km march across the South Downs in just under 28 hours. They were backed up by a team of 5 support crew, also members of the club or long suffering wives.

On Saturday 4th November as is customary for this time of year, a few higher Dan grades and club owners gathered at Sensei & Rae’s house for a Bonfire party!

It was a great evening with fun, food, fireworks and lots of laughter…despite the brief interruption!

Last night (Thursday 2nd November), all students that are aiming to attempt their Dan grading next Saturday, took their Jiyu Kumite portion of the exam.

With such a large number of students aiming to grade next week, the whole lesson was devoted to this.

Sunday 29th October saw ESKA hold its annual championships at the Stevenage Hombu. As always, the event was a great success and all that attended enjoyed the high quality of karate on show. From the youngest junior to the oldest adult; everyone showed a high level of commitment and spirit. Judges were particularly impressed with the etiquette of the students participating.
