Edward Docwra
Spirit Cup
The Edward “Ted” Docwra Spirit cup is a special award that is presented on an annual basis within ESKA. Ted was one of the founder member of ESKA and was an extremely good instructor who’s lessons and training were always unique and highly enjoyable.
He was extremely “spirited” about his Karate and really encouraged his pupils. Sadly, Ted died from Cancer back in 1989.
Peter Cox
Karate Award
Sensei Peter Cox 5th Dan was a very committed and spirited karate-ka who sadly died in 2007.
Sensei Cox was Stevenage Dojo Captain for over 20 years and had exemplary etiquette.
This award is for the under 21 year old ESKA student for exceptional spirit, commitment and dedication to Karate.
Edward Docwra
Spirit Cup
In Ted’s honour, the Edward Docwra Spirit Cup has been awarded to an ESKA student that has stood out during the preceding year as a “Spirited” karate-ka.
Nominated candidates are voted on by the Senior Dan Grades (normally the Grading Board members) and the presentation is made at the Annual Dinner and Dance. The winner is never revealed until this night. It comes as a real surprise and honour to the winner and is a very special award to receive.
To the right is a list of the previous and current holders; but could yours be the next name etched onto the cup…
