Over the Christmas period we heard the sad news that Sensei Roger Hall passed away.

Sensei Roger Hall as many of you will know, was a joint Chief Instructor of ESKA for many years and also a student of Sensei Mick Randall.

He like many of us, devoted his life to Karate and achieved the rank of 8th Dan. He will be missed by many, including us at ESKA.

Our thoughts go out to his friends and family during this tough time.

Our annual ESKA Dinner & Dance was held on 24th November 2018 at the Needham House Hotel in Little Wymondley.

This was the 2nd year the event has been held back at the Needham House Hotel a central location which is great for most clubs to get to.

The evening was full of drinks, awards, food, dancing and most importantly fun!

Saturday 20th October saw ESKA hold its annual championships at the Stevenage Hombu. As always, the event was a great success and all that attended enjoyed the high quality of karate on show. From the youngest junior to the oldest adult; everyone showed a high level of commitment and spirit. Judges were particularly impressed with the etiquette of the students participating.

Calling all Karate-ka

With the autumn grading over, its time to focus on the 2018 competition that’s open to absolutely EVERYONE within ESKA. This year the competition is on a Saturday and all contestants will receive a participation medal and certificate with trophies being awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Check out the event page.

On Saturday 4th August, the ESKA senior grades and club instructors gathered at Sensei Nursey’s house for a summer BBQ.

Sensei Gavin having yet another food issue, Sensei Tony still unable to drink a full pint of Ale, the welcome introduction of 2 new “Real Alers” and of course another excellent final meal to finish the night off.
