Sunday 29th October saw ESKA hold its annual championships at the Stevenage Hombu. As always, the event was a great success and all that attended enjoyed the high quality of karate on show. From the youngest junior to the oldest adult; everyone showed a high level of commitment and spirit. Judges were particularly impressed with the etiquette of the students participating.

Yesterday (29th October) we held our annual ESKA Competition at the ESKA Honbu (Stevenage Leisure Centre).

The annual ESKA First Aid Course for Instructors was again held at the ESKA Hombu in Stevenage.

On Thursday 12th and Monday 16th October, Sensei Gavin Paul held a Kumite Referee course at the Stevenage Hombu.

Covering everything from scoring to penalties the course was very thorough and each attendee received their very own ESKA Kumite rules booklet.

Calling all Karate-ka

The next event on our calendar is the annual competition held at the Stevenage Hombu. This is always a great occasion and is a fantastic opportunity for all our students to gain confidence and show what they can do.

The competition will be held on the 29th October at Stevenage Leisure Centre. All entrants will receive a medal just for taking part. The cost is £4 per event entered. (You are able to enter more than one event.)

Real Ale Tour – Another Year

Following another successful ESKA Real Ale Tour, here is a short write up of the few highlights that can be remembered!

We must also compliment and thank both Matt (‘driver’, who only got lost once) and Fiona (‘head mistress’ who made sure all the “kids” got round  safely) and without whom the tour would not have been possible. They also coped well with the heckling and the later than expected finish.

In keeping with the ‘head mistress’ and educational theme, the day was more educational than expect and a number of important things were learnt throughout the day, either by practical experiment, harsh experience or observation.

On Saturday the 30th April ESKA held its Summer Dan Grading at Little Staughton Village hall in Bedfordshire.

The Dan grading as always is a very difficult grading and all the students worked really hard and did their best.

I would like to thank all the grading examiners who worked tirelessly from 10.00am untill 6.00pm and to congratulate all the following students that passed.
