KYU Grading’s are for all students attempting a grade from beginner to 1st Kyu (Brown Belt and 2 Red Stripes).
These grading’s are held every 3 months and are public grading’s meaning parents, friends and family can watch.
Whilst grading isn’t mandatory, it is encouraged and your club instructor will only put you forward for a grading should they think you will pass.
Grading forms are given out by your club instructor a few weeks prior to the grading. It is your club instructors decision whether you are able to grade or not.
ESKA hold’s its own annual competition called ‘The ESKA Championships’. During this event every member has the option to take part in Freestyle, Kata and Team Kata categories.
As well as the annual member only competition, some of our members take part in other National and International competitions.
We will publish competitions here along with joining details.
Dan grading’s are grading’s for anyone attempting Intermediate Black Belt or above. These grading’s are very tough and last for hours. Unlike the Kyu grading’s these are held behind closed doors and are not available to be watched by spectators.
Dan grading’s are held twice a year (1 Summer, 1 Winter) and grading forms can be obtained through your club instructor. Similar to the Kyu grading’s you must have your instructors consent prior to grading as well as Sensei Nursey (ESKA Chief Instructor)
We love all things social and love nothing better than finishing off a hard nights training with a quick beverage down the local. The highlight of our social calendar is however the ESKA Dinner and Dance, which has been running as long as ESKA!
The Dinner and Dance is held at the end of the year and is a chance for everyone to let their ‘belts down’?! As well as being a great evening, Dan grade certificates are awarded on this night.
We hold a number of courses and seminar’s throughout the year aimed at building our members and instructors knowledge. In ESKA we feel Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is important for everyone.
